What Los Angeles County families should know about paying for care.

In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) is a Medi-Cal program that Los Angeles County runs through its Department of Public Social Services. IHSS pays an individual provider, often a family member, and is separate from private home care agencies like Rolocare.

Rolocare works with private pay clients only. Some families combine IHSS hours with private care to cover nights, weekends or respite. Others use savings, long-term care insurance or, for eligible veterans and surviving spouses, the VA pension with Aid and Attendance.

For free local information about aging services, the county's Aging and Disabilities Department and, inside the City of Los Angeles, the city's Department of Aging are good places to start.

Families choose Rolocare for four reasons.

Our caregivers are screened and trained.

Every caregiver is on the California Home Care Aide registry, clears a fingerprint background check, has a negative TB test and finishes our training.

Our caregivers are always rested.

No caregiver works more than 8 hours in a row, so the person with your loved one is alert and at their best.

Your care plan fits your family.

You only pay for the help your loved one needs, and you can change the schedule any time.

A real person answers your call.

You talk to our own local team, not a call center.
